South Bend Museum of Art — 120 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
You can't have a discussion of art in South Bend without mentioning our community's art museum. The South Bend Museum of Art features an extensive collection of historical Indiana art, as well as the work of important regional and national artists. The museum also features rotating special exhibitions, such as the groundbreaking Performing Media Festival, showcasing work that crosses disciplinary boundaries and embraces emerging technologies. The Morris Performing Arts Center — 211 N. Michigan Street
A cornerstone of the South Bend community for over a hundred years, the Morris Performing Arts Center is housed in the restored former Palace Theatre, which was originally a vaudeville house and sometimes a stage for traveling Broadway troupes. Today you can see a variety of shows at the Morris, including plays and musicals, concerts, ballets, and performances by the South Bend Symphony Orchestra.
Fire Arts Inc. — 305 E. Colfax Avenue
Fire Arts Inc. is the home of dozens of talented sculptors, ceramicists, potters, and jewelers. This shop offers classes, exhibits, events, and an online shop where you can shop for locally produced art. Take advantage of their well-equipped workshop, and work closely with a mentor to develop new skills. Learn or hone your craft, celebrate 3D art, and above all, support your local artists.
Make South Bend — 2228 Mishawaka Avenue
If you want to make stuff, not just art but everything from plastics to woodworking, check out Make South Bend. This makers haven offers not only classes, but also a well-equipped space where you can have the freedom and tools to create in a wide range of mediums. Use their 3D printers, laser cutters, a range of woodworking tools, and more. Plus, shop from a variety of merch from local makers like yourself.
G & A Music — 4609 Grape Road, Mishawaka
If you believe in making art that can be heard as well as seen, check out G & A Music. Located in nearby Mishawaka, this self-described Mom and Pop music shop is an easy drive from South Bend homes for sale. Whether you are looking for pre-loved or new equipment or prefer something vintage, this little shop offers a wide selection that's worth perusing. In addition to carrying guitars, both acoustic and electric, folk instruments, audio and recording equipment, drums, and even harmonicas, G & A Music is also one of a few local places offering repairs.
